The Espresso Blend from Grassroots is a delicate coffee. You have to be very careful about your coffee/water proportions. If I varied much at all, it turned from a smooth smokey flavored brew to ash. I had difficulties getting the amounts right. Ok 24grams coffee to 385grams water. The water JUST fits in the Clever Dripper.
This is good. It is a light bodied coffee. I am not even getting much of the smokey flavor I did previously. Some acidity (lively, light on the tongue), its a good cup of coffee.
Grassroots Coffee is fairly new coffee shop. It came about in 2009. There are an extreme number of coffee shops out there. Why open a coffee joint when you can still find a Starbucks on almost every corner? Because you will find places like Grassroots when you go looking.
Take a look at their website, they introduce you to their baristas (including Emily from Northern California (represent! (I am also from NorCal))). So you see, they are their community. They make the kind of place it seems locals really want. They tell you their story, fresh as it is.
There is always room for a good coffee shop out, there is always room for coffee. I have not been to Thomasville (I hear it is somewhere in southern Georgia, (I am up around Augusta)), but if I do go down that way, you can bet I will drive out of my way to go there.
Thanks for the coffee, it was a pleasure to review.
